Bird, Meet Dumbo : 호기심이 작품이 될 때

전시회 제목인, '앵무새, 덤보를 만나다.'에서 알 수 있듯이 2021년 박선미 작가와 처음 만난 전인지 선수가 1년 동안 같이 고민해왔던 여러 주제들을 콜라보 작품들을 통해서 선보이게 된다.

미술과 스포츠라는 서로 다른 영역에 있지만 대중들과 소통하며 선한 영향력을 전하고자 하는 공통점을 가진 박선미, 전인지 두 작가는 예술을 매개로 가까워졌다. 그림을 그리면서 두 작가의 그림 세계와 골프 세계가 만나 호기심이라는 공통분모를 가지고 탄생한 두 작가의 새로운 스토리가 궁금함을 유발한다.

전인지 선수의 팬들은 성적이 좋지 않을 때도 항상 환한 미소를 잃지 않는 그녀에게 큰 귀를 펄럭이며 하늘을 나는 애니메이션 주인공인 아기 코끼리 '플라잉 덤보'라는 별명을 지어줬었고, 전인지 선수의 팬카페 이름이 되기도 했다. 이번 전시회에 선보일 작품에도 덤보가 등장한다. 이번 전시는 그림을 그리면서 슬럼프를 극복하게 되었다는 전인지 선수의 작가로서 첫 전시회로 그녀가 어떤 작품을 표현해 냈을지 많은 이들이 주목하고 있다.

무거운 주제를 이해하기 쉬운 시각적 언어로, 색으로 표현하며 누구나 공감할 수 있게 표현하는 박선미 작가와 프로골퍼 전인지 선수의 이번 콜라보 전시회에서는, 9번째 지능, Bam!, 엘리스 등 앵무새를 매개체로 하는 박선미 작가의 그림 세계와 물음표를 안고 있는 아기 코끼리 덤보의 만남으로 새롭게 만들어진 그림들을 만날 수 있다. 각기 다른 분야에서 활발히 활동하고 있으면서 앵무새와 덤보라는 각자의 상징적 대상을 통해 자신만의 이야기와 삶의 다양한 메시지를 전하는 콜라보 작품은 이번 전시를 통해 만나볼 수 있다.

The exhibition titled 'BIRD, MEET DUMBO,' as indicated, showcases collaborative works by artists Sun Mi Park and professional golfer In Gee Chun, who have spent a year contemplating various themes together. In Gee Chun's fans have affectionately given her the nickname "Flying Dumbo," referring to the animated character, the baby elephant with large ears that soars through the sky. This nickname was bestowed upon her due to her unyielding bright smile even during less favorable athletic performances. It even became the name of In Gee Chun's fan cafe. In this exhibition, artworks featuring Dumbo will be presented. As this marks In Gee Chun's first exhibition as an artist, fans and art enthusiasts are eager to see how she expresses herself through her creations after overcoming a slump in her athletic career.

Addressing weighty themes using easily understandable visual language and expressing them through color for universal appeal, artist Park Sun-mi and professional golfer In Gee Chun collaborate to create a unique exhibition. The collaboration features Sun Mi Park's artistic world centered around parrots as mediators, along with the introduction of new paintings born from the encounter with the question-mark-bearing baby elephant, Dumbo. Engaging with their symbolic representations—an parrot and Dumbo—both active in their respective fields, the collaborative artworks convey personal stories and diverse messages about life.
