표류하는 기억

본화랑은 3월 23일(수)부터 4월 23일(토)까지 이유진 작가의 개인전 <표류하는 기억>을 개최한다. 이유진 작가는 오늘날 소셜 미디어 등의 매체를 통해 맺는 다양한 인간관계 속에서 개인들이 느끼는 외롭고 불안한 감정에 주목한다. 타인에 둘러싸여 살아가면서도 내면의 고립감을 느끼는 현대인들의 정서를 회화에 담아내고자 한다. 

물 위에 표류하는 이미지는 이중적 심상을 불러일으킨다. 표류하는 풍경은 쓸쓸하고 공허하다. 홀로 외딴 곳에 떠있는 듯한 인상을 주며 고독함과 외로움을 느끼게 한다. 고립된 공간 속에 위치한 회화의 대상은 정서적 등가물로 작가의 감정을 투영시킨 대상이라 할 수 있다. 작가가 과거에 경험했던 공동체로부터의 소외감이나 혼자있었을때 느꼈던 외로움 등의 불안정한 감정은 대상을 통해 방향을 잃고 흔들리는 표류의 움직임으로 형상화된다. 그러나 표류는 방향을 잃고 정처없이 헤매는 현상만은 아니다. 표류는 머문다 혹은 쉬어간다 라는 중의적 이미지를 지니기도 한다. 잔잔한 호숫가 위를 표류하는 모습은 고요하고 편안한 느낌을 준다. 작가는 홀로 고립된 시간을 외로움의 감정에 매몰되기 보다는 오히려 외부의 방해없이 고요히 자신을 직면하고 진정한 자아를 발견해나가는 계기로 삼는다. 작가는 주제의식의 표현방식으로써 표류라는 이미지를 사용하여 혼돈과 평온, 외로움과 안정감과 같은 양가적인 의미를 드러낸다. 

물은 자아를 투영하는 매개로써 내면 성찰의 대상이며 마음의 정화와 내적 감정을 순화시키는 대상이다. 물그림자는 내면의 감정을 안정적으로 다스리려는 정신적 의미를 내포하며, 거센 파도가 잠잠해지듯 마음의 혼돈이 점차 안정화되는 모습은 맑고 부드러운 물로 표현된다. 작가는 내면의 평정심과 마음의 여유를 잔잔한 물결에 담아 전한다. 이유진 작가의 작품을 통해 내면에 잠재된 여러가지 감정들을 돌아보며 무너진 감정을 회복하고 위로받는 시간이 되길 바란다.

Artist Yujin Lee focuses on the feelings of loneliness and anxiety that individuals experience in various human relationships mediated through today's social media and other channels. Despite living surrounded by others, modern individuals often feel an inner sense of isolation, and the artist aims to capture these emotions through her paintings.

The image of drifting on water evokes a dualistic sentiment. The drifting landscape feels lonesome and empty, giving an impression of being alone in a remote place, emphasizing feelings of solitude and loneliness. The subjects in the paintings, located within isolated spaces, can be seen as symbolic reflections of the artist's emotions. The unsettling emotions of alienation from the community or the loneliness felt when alone in the past are visualized through the drifting movement that loses direction. However, drifting is not merely about losing direction and aimlessly wandering. It also carries the ambiguous image of settling down or taking a break. The scene of drifting on a calm lakeside exudes a tranquil and comfortable atmosphere. The artist, instead of being engulfed in the loneliness of isolated time, uses it as an opportunity to calmly confront herself without external disturbances, seeking to discover her true self. Through the representation of drifting, the artist expresses ambivalent meanings such as chaos and tranquility, loneliness and a sense of security, using it as a method of thematic expression.

Water serves as a medium reflecting the self, becoming a subject for internal reflection and purification of the mind and inner emotions. Water shadows represent a mental significance of stabilizing internal emotions, and the transformation from turbulent waves to calmness mirrors the gradual stabilization of the mind. The artist conveys her inner calmness and a sense of mental ease through the gentle ripples of water. Through Yujin Lee's artwork, it is hoped that viewers can reflect on various emotions within themselves, recover from shattered emotions, and find solace.
